La Pietra students sing 'Songs for a New World' tonight

Lift those spirits at the musical "Songs for a New World," La Pietra school's annual production, continuing at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. tomorrow at the school gymnasium.

It's directed by Reiko Ho, with choreography by Hymie Huckso and vocal direction by Shari Lynn. Male cast members are from Mid-Pacific Institute, and Kaiser and Kaimuki high schools.

"Songs for a New World," lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, made its debut off-Broadway in 1996.

Admission is $5. La Pietra is at 2933 Poni Moi Road, on the slopes of Diamond Head.
