Teen dies after slipping on rocks near 'Depots' surf spot
A teenager apparently slipped on rocks and died yesterday in an accident near the "Depots" surf spot in Nānākuli.
The boy suffered "traumatic injuries" before falling into the water, where he was half-submerged until lifeguards got to him, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.
The accident happened about 12:14 p.m. in the area of 89-019 Farrington Highway.
The victim, who was in his midteens, was transported to a hospital in critical condition. He was subsequently pronounced dead, Cheplic said.
