State flags to fly at half-staff on Memorial Day until noon
Gov. Linda Lingle has ordered the Hawai'i state flag to be flown at half-staff at all state and county buildings from sunrise to noon Monday "in deep respect for all patriots who have given their lives in support of this nation."
The order follows national protocol, which calls for the American flag to be flown at half-staff on Memorial Day from sunrise to noon.
The flags will fly at full-staff from noon until sunset as "a symbol of our living nation," the governor's office said.
"I also strongly encourage all of our citizens to join their fellow Americans in observing the National Moment of Remembrance beginning at 3 p.m. HST," Lingle said in a statement yesterday.
