Kauai police say a portion of Kuhio Highway in Kapaa remains closed to traffic today following a midnight vehicle crash.

Police say a northbound pickup truck crossed the centerline, struck an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of the Lava Lounge, then continued on and sheared a utility pole in half.

The driver and a passenger were taken to Wilcox Hospital for treatment and were reported in good condition this morning.

Kuhio Highway will be closed between Kukui and Niu streets until emergency utility work is completed. Traffic is being rerouted through Lehua Street.
