The often-robbed Kalihi branch of American Savings Bank on North King Street was hit again yesterday, this time by a man who waved a semi-automatic pistol and took cash from two tellers, police said.

The branch at 1851 N. King St. had been robbed as recently as December "and has been hit several times before," police Sgt. Kim Buffett said.

Yesterday's robbery happened at 9:50 a.m., said HPD Sgt. Keith Marini.

Marini came out of the bank yesterday with an image from one of the branch's security cameras in which the robber is looking toward the camera while holding a pistol.

The man showed the gun to two tellers, who turned over money, Marini said. The man wore a black shirt, jeans and a black baseball cap that covered a shock of curly gray hair that was possibly a wig, Marini said. He also had a gray mustache.

The robber ran out of the bank heading 'ewa on North King Street.

Police stopped buses on North King Street but found no sign of the robber, Marini said.

Police were looking for a man 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds.
