No foul play in death of man found at Camp Smith
The city Department of the Medical Examiner yesterday identified the body of a man found on the grounds of Camp Smith in Hālawa Heights on Sunday as that of Todd Michael Carson, 49, of Honolulu.
The office determined Carson died of heart problems and concluded his death was due to natural causes.
Fire Department officials said hunters reported finding Carson's body after their dogs alerted them.
Camp Smith officials said the body was spotted more than 60 feet down an incline in a remote ravine.
The hunters' family members called 911, and the police and fire departments responded along with military police and the Federal Fire Department.
The body was recovered along with a small backpack and some drinking water.
The Navy Criminal Investigative Service is investigating Carson's death.
