Three Stanford pitchers combined on a six-hitter to beat Hawai'i, 5-1, today in a non-conference game at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond at Stanford, Calif.

A three-run sixth broke a 1-all game for Stanford.

Starter Danny Sandbrink allowed a run on 4 1/3 innings, Brian Busick (5-1) added 2 2/3 scoreless innings and Mark Appel finished with two scoreless for the Cardinal (28-20).

Harrison Kuroda (0-1) gave up three runs in 1 1/3 innings of relief for the Rainbows (26-24).

The Rainbows took a 1-0 lead in the third on a two out solo home run by Kevin Fujii. It was the senior's first of his career.

The Cardinal tied it in the fourth against Alex Capaul. Stephen Piscotty reached on an error with one out, took second on a balk and went to third on Kenny Diekroger's single. Eric Smith's RBI single tied it at 1.

Stanford took the lead in the sixth. Colin Walsh led off with a double off Kuroda and an out later, scored on Diekroger's single. Smith's double moved Diekroger to third and chased Kuroda from the game for Jesse Moore, who started the game in left field.

Before Moore threw a pitch, he was called for a balk that scored one run and sent Smith to third, where he scored on Jake Schlander's single to make it 4-1.

Stanford cushioned its lead in the seventh when Jake Stewart led off by getting hit by a Moore pitch, taking third on Tyler Gaffney's single and scoring on Walsh's single to make it 5-1.
