Police Tuesday morning arrested a 23-year-old man as a suspect in the knife-point robbery of a store on Kaheka Street Sunday night.

The store owner told police a man entered the store armed with a knife about 11:10 and demanded money from the cash register.

After being given an undisclosed amount, the robber left the store and ran, police were told.

They said officers were sent to the store and searched the surrounding area, but could not find a suspect.

About 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, a police officer saw a man stopped at a red light who matched the description of the robbery suspect.

Police said the officer tried to pull the driver over, but he refused to stop and sped off. The officer followed the suspect until he turned down a dead-end street and was forced to stop.

The suspect was then arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, refusing an order to stop a motor vehicle, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a motor vehicle collision, and two traffic court contempt warrants.
