HONOLULU — Two new ads in the contest for Hawaii's vacant congressional seat are trying to woo voters concerned about the economy.

The latest ad, released Wednesday by the Democratic National Committee, criticizes Republican Charles Djou for opposing last year's economic stimulus law.

The minute-long Internet ad contends the law created 290,000 jobs nationwide. It charges that Republicans in Congress and Djou refuse to acknowledge the law is working because they simply want to oppose President Obama.

It does not mention the two leading Democrats in the race, Colleen Hanabusa and Ed Case.

Djou's 30-second TV ad, released Tuesday, contends Djou would fight corruption, wasteful government spending and tax hikes.
