Moped rider in critical after collision on Kahekili Hwy.
A collision between a moped rider and a sedan on Kahekili Highway Saturday afternoon left the moped rider in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center, police said.
The 32-year-old male rider was heading south when he tried to make a U-turn at the intersection of Kahekili Highway and 'Āhuimanu Road at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, police said.
A sedan driven by a 32-year-old Kāne'ohe woman that was heading south collided with the moped. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from the moped.
The woman and her passenger, a 15-year-old boy, were not injured.
Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.
