This time, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua made sure the judges were not involved.
Rua knocked out the previously unbeaten Lyoto Machida 3 minutes, 35 seconds into the first round to capture the light heavyweight mixed martial arts championship at UFC 113 at the Bell Centre in Montreal.
For many, it will be remembered as a night when justice was served. Machida took a controversial unanimous decision from Rua at UFC 104 in October.
Rua (19-4, 16 KOs) waited seven months for his shot at redemption, and he made the most of it.
With a little over a minute left in first round Rua landed a shot to Machida's temple that knocked him to the ground. Rua then got on top and landed a flurry of punches until Machida (16-1, 5 KOs) was unconscious and referee Yves Lavigne had to step in and stop the bout.
Earlier, Kimbo Slice lost to Matt Mitrione and UFC president Dana White said after the bout that Slice is unlikely to fight in the UFC again.
"That's probably Kimbo's last fight in the UFC," said White. "He's done. We're probably going to cut him."

HAMLIN IN RARE SWEEP
Denny Hamlin became the first driver in 17 years to sweep Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, winning the Sprint Cup's Southern 500 race last night after late mistakes took Jeff Gordon and Jeff Burton out of contention.
Winner of the Nationwide Series race Friday night, Hamlin became the first driver since Mark Martin in 1993 to sweep the Darlington weekend. It was Hamlin's first victory at NASCAR's oldest superspeedway, and the Joe Gibbs Racing driver has never finished lower than 13th in his five career starts at the difficult track.
"I can't tell you how excited I am about us winning right now because I know what our team is capable of when we get to Chase time," he said. "We are running last year's cars for the most part, and we're just kind of easing our way into it. We didn't expect this success, but we felt like we could contend for race wins and maybe get one here or there in the first 12."
WEBBER GAINS F-1 POLE
Mark Webber claimed his second pole position of the Formula One season yesterday, leading a Red Bull 1-2 at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Spain.
Webber secured Red Bull's fifth straight start from first place on the grid with a lap time of 1 minute, 19.995 seconds at the Circuit de Catalunya. Sebastian Vettel will start second.
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren will start third ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, while overall F1 leader Jenson Button was fifth.
Ferrari was fined $20,000 after Alonso nearly collided with Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg during qualifying. Alonso pulled out of Ferrari's garage and almost drove straight into Rosberg as they both left the pit lane.

WILLIAMS IN BIZARRE WIN
Paul Williams earned a bizarre victory last night when Kermit Cintron wasn't allowed to continue after accidently tripping and tumbling through the ropes and landing on a ringside table early in the fourth round.
The 154-pound bout in Carson, Calif., ended with Cintron strapped to a stretcher and wearing a neck brace, although he wanted to get up and keep fighting.
Williams (39-1, 27 KOs) was awarded a technical victory by split decision because he led on two of the three judges' scorecards. California rules require a decision if a fight ends by injury after the fourth round begins.
"It's a strange way to get a win," Williams said. "I'll try to fight better the next time. ... I definitely don't want to see a guy get hurt. I wanted to hurt him with a punch, not by him falling out of the ring."

CHING SITS, DYNAMO WIN
Houston midfielder Brad Davis scored a goal and set up another in the first 8 minutes and the host Houston Dynamo got their first road win of the season, beating Chivas USA, 2-0, last night in Carson, Calif.
Brian Ching, a Kamehameha Schools' alum from Hale'iwa, was in uniform for Houston (4-3-1) for the first time since injuring his hamstring on April 1, but did not play.
Sacha Kljestan and Jonathan Bornstsein played the entire match for Chivas USA (3-4-1), but neither was able to help the team break down Houston's defense.
Adrian Serioux scored Houston's second goal off Davis' corner kick.
