A Grown on Maui bus tour will operate every Tuesday beginning May 18 from 8:30 a.m to 3 p.m. The tours will give an "up-close and personal" experience of Maui's agriculture by bringing visitors to farms; the practice known as agritourism helps sustain farmers by allowing them to take their traditional agricultural practices and expand into hospitality and education. HPU STUDENTS SELECTED FOR JAPANESE TEACHING PROGRAM

Hawai'i Pacific University students Jolyn Yoneshige, majoring in teaching English as a second language, and David Pfitzner, international relations major, have been selected as assistant language teachers in the Japanese Exchange and Teaching program. The students will teach in Japan's public school system.

CITY HOSTS FINAL WORKSHOP ON HIGHLANDS RAIL STATION

The city will display final drawings of the Pearl Highlands rail station for the Pearl City community at a 6:30 p.m. workshop on Thursday at Highlands Intermediate School, 1460 Ho'olaule'a St. This is the last of three community design workshops for the planned Pearl Highlands station. PROJECTFOCUS TO TEACH HUGS CHILDREN ART OF PHOTOGRAPHY

ProjectFocus Hawai'i will work with 14 children from HUGS (Help, Understanding and Group Support) who have seriously ill siblings to foster self-esteem through the art of photography. The children will learn basic photography skills and then will be asked to photograph someone special in their life. Each young photographer will write a personal statement to accompany their best photograph, which will be paired with their own picture and featured in a public exhibit.

AUTHOR LES ELDRIDGE TO TALK AT WAI‘ANAE, STATE LIBRARIES

Author Les Eldridge has written three novels in a series on the American Civil War at sea: "The Chesapeake Command" (2005), "Gray Raiders, Green Seas" (2007), and "The Wake of the Woonsocket" (2008). He will give free talks Thursday at 10 a.m. at Wai'anae Public Library, and May 22 at 11 a.m. at the Hawai'i State Library.
