'Furlough Friday' protestors in court tomorrow
Associated Press
Fourteen people who staged a sit-in at Gov. Linda Lingle's office to protest school furloughs are to be arraigned tomorrow.
The parents and other adults will appear in District Court for their first trespassing citations, which were issued during the sit-in last month. Two of the 14 also will be arraigned for their second citations.
Six others who received citations and four who were arrested will be arraigned Tuesday and Wednesday.
The protesters are members of an ad hoc parents group called Save Our Schools. They conducted the sit-in in hopes of prodding Lingle to end school furloughs that have left Hawaii with the shortest instructional calendar in the nation.
