Pickup accidentally runs over intoxicated woman passed out in driveway, police say
A pick-up truck ran over an intoxicated woman passed out in a driveway in Kaka'ako on Friday night, police said.
The driver of the truck apparently did not see the woman.
The 43-year-old victim was taken in critical condition to the Queen's Medical Center with head and internal injuries.
The driver of the brown F-350 Ford pickup, a 26-year-old Kane'ohe man, and his passenger, a 22-year-old Kane'ohe woman, were not injured.
Police said the incident happened about 11:43 p.m. on Ahui Street, 95 feet north of Pohukaina Street and in the area of Pipeline Cafe.
The victim, of Kapolei, was intoxicated and passed out in a driveway on Ahui Street when the pick-up ran over her in trying to execute a three-point turn, police said.
The pick-up then backed up, driving over the woman again.
Drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors on the part of the driver, and speed was also not a factor.
