'Iolani School students join in National Science Bowl
A team from 'Iolani School is representing Hawai'i at the U.S. Department of Energy's 20th annual National Science Bowl in Washington, D.C., that ends today.
In all, students from 68 high school teams and 37 middle school teams participated in the three-day competition.
The students will be quizzed to determine their knowledge of biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, astronomy and math.
Various trophies and prizes will be awarded, including an all-expense-paid research trip for the high school champion to study the ecosystems of Belize in Central America.
Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona said the Science Bowl goes hand-in-hand with efforts to transform Hawai'i into a worldwide leader of clean energy security and sustainability.
