After sorting through more than 3,000 entries, AlohaCare has selected the winners from its statewide art contest.

The theme of this year's contest was "I Keep Healthy By ..." and was for children ages 4-12. Residents can see the top 25 entries from each age group at a special art display at Windward Mall beginning tomorrow.

The first-place winner from each age division received $100 in cash.

GIRLS GET LOOK AT ENGINEERING AT WAIPAHU INTERMEDIATE

More than 250 middle school students learned about engineering careers from 18 Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility volunteers at Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day April 17 at Waipahu Intermediate School.

The event provides an in-depth introduction to the field featuring hands-on activities for students that encourage creativity, innovation and real-world application of engineering principles. The event, hosted by the University of Hawai'i-Mānoa chapter of the Society of Women Engineers, was held on O'ahu for the first time.

CHILDREN’S BLESSING, FESTIVAL MAY 15 AT KOGANJI TEMPLE

WAI‘ALAE SCHOOL STUDENTS TO PERFORM ‘CINDERELLA’

Wai'alae Public Charter School will present the Disney Kids version of "Cinderella" at 7 p.m. May 14 and 15.

The shows take place in the school cafeteria. Admission is free, but donations to defray production costs will be accepted at the door. Approximately 40 children will take the stage for the two-night run. The school is at 1045 19th Ave. between Harding and Pāhoa avenues.

MUSICAL THEATER PROGRAM SEEKING KIDS AGES 7 TO 14
