Construction at the Kekaha Landfill on Kauai will force the recycling programs at the landfill to be suspended from Monday through next Friday.

Kauai County officials said that during this period, greenwaste, appliances, scrap metal, scrap tires and recyclables for the Kaua'i Recycles Drop Bin program will not be accepted.

Residents can take those items to the Hanapepe transfer station or any other transfer station on the island. The closest alternate Kauai Recycles Drop Bin site is at Waimea Canyon Park.
