Kapono Beamer, Jon Osorio and Keola Beamer are headlining a benefit concert at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow for Kapono Beamer's daughter-in-law, who was diagnosed with cancer in January.

The event, at Calvary by the Sea church, will include a silent auction. Tickets, $25 to $100, are available at http://benefitforlauae.blogspot.com and Native Books/Nä Mea Hawaii at Ward Warehouse. The Web site has updates and information on how to make gifts to the family, for those who cannot attend the event.

Lauae Beamer, wife of Kapono Beamer's son Kamana, was eight months pregnant when she learned she had breast cancer. She gave birth Feb. 4 to a healthy daughter, Halialoha Kawahinekapuanolani Beamer. The new mom is now commuting back and forth from Waimea on the Big Island to Oahu for treatment.

It looks like O'ahu native Nicole Scherzinger's stiffest competition to bring home the mirrorball trophy on ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" (7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays) will be gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek. Scherzinger, lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, earned the highest score during Monday's premiere (25 out of 30 points). If this competition is based on sheer talent, Scherzinger and Lysacek are shoo-ins, but fan voting comes into play, so it will be interesting to see how 80-year-old ex-astronaut Buzz Aldrin fares in the voting. Buzz may be a sentimental favorite, but he's not good at dancing

Former Oakland Raiders cheerleader turned comedian Anjelah Johnson is popular in the Islands. Her first two shows tonight and tomorrow night at Pipeline Café sold out quickly, so a third show was added at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
