LIFE AND TIMES OF A 13-YEAR-OLD
Teens from 10 O'ahu schools are coming together this weekend and next to stage the popular new Broadway musical "13." Creator Jason Robert Brown was the first to stage a Broadway musical with an all-teen cast, and Castle Performing Arts Center's Ronald E. Bright Theatre in Kāne'ohe is the first Hawai'i theater to acquire the performing rights for the show, which closed last year on Broadway.
"13" is a coming-of-age story about a boy whose life gets flipped upside-down thanks to his lame parents and a surprise move to a new (lame) city in Indiana. And then he meets the girl next door. Hormones, identity crises and battles for the affection of the cool kids ensue.
"13"/ Castle Performing Arts Center / 45-386 Käne'ohe Bay Drive / opens tonight at 7:30, shows also at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow, 2 p.m. Sunday, and 7:30 p.m. April 2 and 3 / $10-$15 / www.showtix4u.com / 233-5626 / www.k12.hi.us/~cpac/
