Ka'u Coffee Festival set for May Day weekend
The second annual Ka'u Coffee Festival on Hawai'i Island is planned for May 1 and 2 at the Pahala Community Center, located between Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park and Punalu'u Black Sand Beach.
Ka'u coffee has become increasingly popular, receiving awards, being served in the restaurants of chef Alan Wong and featured at Pres. Barack Obama's inaugural gala.
The day-long events comprise music, hula, food sales, coffee tasting, a recipe contest, farm tours and the introduction of Miss Ka'u Coffee and Miss Peaberry (who will be selected March 27).
