The executive director of the Kauai Humane Society was fined $100 last week for carrying a dog in the basket of her bicycle while on a shared-use path system where dogs are prohibited.

Rebecca Rhodes pleaded guilty in District court last Wednesday to violating Section 19-1.4(a)(8) of the Kauai County Code. She was riding her bike on Jan. 29 on a section of the Ke Ala Hele Makalae coastal path fronting Kealia Beach where dogs are not allowed when park rangers issued her a citation. Signs are posted along the path informing users of where dogs are allowed.
