A scuba diver experiencing symptoms consistent with the bends was taken to a hyperbaric chamber at a hospital this morning.

Bryan Cheplic of the city’s Emergency Services Department said paramedics were notified shortly before 10 a.m. and were waiting at a harbor off Sand Island Access Road for the boat carrying the diver to dock.
Paramedics were told the man, believed to be in his 50s, had surfaced from a depth of about 100 feet. The man was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
