NEW YORK — The Jets say they will flip a coin with the Giants to determine which team will host the first regular-season game at the new Meadowlands Stadium.
The teams will begin playing in their new 82,500-seat, $1.6 billion stadium this season, and both have campaigned to the NFL to play the opening game there. The Jets posted on their Web site Saturday night that league will make heads or tails of it by having a coin toss in the near future.
The NFL did not confirm a coin flip would occur, saying simply that the commissioner determines the schedule and the league has no announcements.
This year’s regular-season schedule will be announced next month.
The stadium is the first constructed to serve as the home of two NFL teams.
