New street lights in Hawaii Kai will be tested tonight, the city said today.

Lights on Lunalilo Home Road, from Kalanianaole Highway to the mauka Kaumakani Street intersection will be activated. The test will also involve the old street lighting systems. Testing and inspection will occur overnight. Once the new lights are operating properly, the city will remove the old lights.
Lights installed on another section of Lunalilo — from the second Kaumakani Street intersection to Wailua Street — is undergoing electrical work and will be activated later this year, the city said.
