Hawai‘i's Slaats named WAC baseball pitcher of the week

University of Hawai‘i right-hander Josh Slaats was named Western Athletic Conference
baseball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced today.
Slaats, a junior from San Ramon, Calif., pitched a complete-game shutout in a seven-inning, 9-0 victory over The Citadel. Slaats allowed two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. Slaats had a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings before allowing two singles in the sixth inning.
Slaats is 1-0 with a 0.52 ERA in three starts this season.
The Rainbows (6-6) open a four-game series against Southern California on Friday.
New Mexico State third baseman Wade Reynoso was named Hitter of the Week.
Reynoso, a senior from Redwood City, Calif., batted .522 in six games last week.
