Rainbow Wahine earn berth in WAC basketball tourney

The Rainbow Wahine earned a place in next week's Western Athletic Conference Tournament when Fresno State defeated San Jose State, 83-47, tonight in Fresno, Calif.
Hawai'i (10-18) is 4-11 in the WAC going into Saturday's final regular-season game at Utah State. The Spartans (6-22) fell to 2-13 and will not qualify for the postseason.
Saturday's winner in Logan will earn the No. 7 seed, while the loser will be No. 8 and face the WAC champion Bulldogs in the first round.
The WAC tournament begins with four women's games Wednesday at Nevada's Lawlor Events Center. A year ago, the Rainbows were seeded eighth and lost in the first round to Fresno State.
