Kauai man arrested in connection with Haena crash
The driver involved in a Kuhio Highway crash last week was arrested Monday on charges related to the accident, police said.
Zion Harada, 34, of Wainiha, was arrested for driving with a revoked license, reckless driving, operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, third degree promotion of a dangerous drug, and prohibited acts related to drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Harada had been hospitalized after suffering injuries in the Feb. 25 crash near Tunnels Beach in Haena.
Police said Harada was heading south on the highway when he crossed the centerline and hit a tree on the side of the road. He was then broadsided by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the northbound vehicle had minor injuries.
Harada is being held in police cellblock in lieu of $15,000 bail.
