Teen pulled from surf spot identified as Wahiawā boy
The boy who died Sunday after he was pulled from waters off Nānākuli has been identified as Kody Kaitoku, 14, of Wahiawā, the city medical examiner's office said.
An official earlier said Kaitoku apparently slipped on rocks and suffered serious injuries before falling into the water near the "Depots" surf spot.
The boy was half-submerged until lifeguards got to him. The accident happened about 12:14 p.m. Sunday in the area of 89-019 Farrington Highway.
Kaitoku was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He was subsequently pronounced dead.
