UH water polo's Genee, Eggens earn MPSF all-academic honors
University of Hawai'i women's water polo players Dagmar Genee and Monika Eggens were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation all-academic team, the league announced today.
A total of 52 student-athletes were honored. The criteria included a 3.0 grade-point average or better, at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year and must have played in 50 percent or more of the team's matches.
Eggens, a sophomore, earned all-academic honors in her first year eligible to be named to the team. Eggens was named first team all-MPSF and named to the MPSF all-tournament team. Eggens led the conference in goal scoring and was named MPSF player of the week twice during the season.
Genee, who earned her first all-academic honor, started all 26 matches and led the team on defense with 48 steals. She also added 20 goals and led the offense with 26 assists.
