With wave heights continuing to diminish, the National Weather Service has lifted a high-surf advisory for north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu and Molokai and north-facing shores on Maui.
Another northwest swell is expected to arrive on Kauai tomorrow afternoon and is expected to produce warning-level wave faces by Sunday.
As for weekend weather, “Winds across most of the state will be from the southwest today in advance of a cold front, which will reach Kauai this afternoon,” the weather service says in its forecast discussion.
“Locally heavy rainfall is possible today over Kauai. The cold front will move down the island chain tonight and Saturday morning, before it stalls and weakens near the Big Island Saturday afternoon.
“Widespread cloudiness and showers will accompany this front as it passes over the state. After the front passes, expect gusty northeasterly trade winds, with windward and mauka showers, as high pressure builds northwest of the Islands this weekend.”
