New swell bringing warning-level waves to Hawaii shores

A high-surf warning is in effect for most north- and west-facing shores of the state.
The National Weather Service says a large northwest swell will arrive today.
It is expected to peak late today or tonight, bringing waves of 25 to 35 feet along north shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui.
West-facing shorelines of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai will see surf in the 15- to 25-foot range while the Big Island’s west-facing shores will get 10- to 15-foot waves.
The high-surf warning remains in effect until 6 p.m. tomorrow night.
