Hawaii parents can enroll kids in kindergarten starting in February
Parents can start registering their children for kindergarten or junior kindergarten for the 2010-2011 school year beginning in February, the state Department of Education announced today.
Children who will be 5 on or before Aug. 1 may enroll in kindergarten, while children who reach 5 between Aug. 2 and Dec. 31 may enroll in junior kindergarten. Kindergarten is not mandatory in Hawaii.
Parents can call their District Office at the numbers listed below to determine which school their child should attend.
To enroll a child for the first time in Hawaii's public schools, parents need to present proof of their residential address, the child's birth certificate, release records from the last school attended (not applicable for kindergarten), and required health and immunization records.
