A NEW THEATER IN CHINATOWN

All The World's a Stage Theatre Company is making its debut this weekend at its new home, Chinatown's main center for the arts, The ARTS at Marks Garage. In celebration of its coming out, the new company will premiere two new plays this season — one this month and one in March.

The first production, "Art," opens tonight for two consecutive weekends. "Art" is Yasmina Reza's three-character play that revolves around three friends who disagree on the deeper meaning of what makes art. The play is directed by Paul T. Mitri, who is also the founder and artistic director for All The World's a Stage Theatre Company. Mitri formed the company by bringing together local professionals, University of Hawai'i theater alums and current graduate students with the goal of creating theater that is artistically challenging and affordable for audiences.

"Art" / The ARTS at Marks Garage / 1159 Nu'uanu Ave / Today-Sunday and Jan. 29-31 / 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays / $10-$12 at the door / 521-2903
