Three C-17 cargo aircraft from Hickam Air Force Base are leaving today to transport relief supplies into Haiti, officials said.

The jet-engined aircraft belong to the active-duty 15th Airlift Wing, but the crews will be a combination of Air Force active duty and Hawaii Air National Guard personnel.
Some of the Hawaii-based C-17s are expected to stage in Charleston, S.C. for the missions into Haiti. The mission by the three aircraft is expected to last seven to 10 days.
