More big waves due today, but trend is for smaller ones
Surf heights on the North Shore will gradually start decreasing today, the National Weather Service said.
But a high-surf warning remains in effect through 6 p.m.
Surf heights of 20 to 25 feet were expected on the North Shore this morning.
Meanwhile, the west-facing shores of O'ahu and Moloka'i were expected to see surf heights of 6 to 12 feet.
The weather service is warning people to steer clear of the big waves, and to be aware that waves could crash onto roads in some areas.
