Kaua'i-born Lara Yamada will join veteran Paula Akana to anchor the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts on KITV, beginning this April.
Yamada, a graduate of Kapa'a High on Kaua'i, is returning to the ABC affiliate after reporting and anchoring duties on the Mainland.
"I worked at KITV4 for several years early in my career as a technical director, graphics operator and special projects producer before I launched my career as a reporter," Yamada said in a statement. "I then left the Islands to work as a reporter and anchor in news markets across the country. Now, I feel I'm the luckiest person in the world because I get to take that experience and come home to a family and a place I truly care about."
