Obama says U.S. taking swift action to help Haiti

WASHINGTON — President Obama says that the U.S. is taking swift action to provide food, water and lifesaving equipment to Haiti and that he won’t put up with excuses from any American officials who do less than their best to help that country recover from a devastating earthquake.
Obama told House Democrats he has directed multiple agencies to work together to get aid to thousands of injured Haitians and families who have suffered tragic losses because of the disaster.
The president said the first wave of Americans in Haiti have been airlifted out and that the nation will not rest until all Americans are out of harm’s way.
