Thousands turn out for Hawaii job fair

Thousands of job seekers with resumes in hand turned out for today’s Job Quest job fair at the Blaisdell Center.
More than 100 local business, Mainland organizations and government agencies were on hand to take job applications from prospective employees at the event, one of three Job Quest job fairs held in Honolulu each year.
The strong turnout by job seekers is in part a result of a rise in unemployment to around the 7 percent level, job fair organizers said.
An exact tally of attendees won’t be known until later this afternoon. The last Job Quest job fair in September drew 5,800 job seekers.
