A high-surf warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Friday as a large northwest swell continues to move down the island chain.

The warning covers north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai and Maui and west-facing shores of the Big Island.
Surf along north-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui is expected to be 25 to 35 feet today, the National Weather Service says. Waves on west-facing shores will be in the 15- to 20-foot range.
Surf along north- and west-facing shores of Kauai and Niihau will be 20 feet to 30 feet this afternoon and increase to 25 feet to 35 feet with occasional larger sets to 40 feet and hold through Thursday night, the National Weather Service says.
Surf along north-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai and Maui will be 15 feet to 25 feet this afternoon and increase to 25 feet to 35 feet and hold through Thursday night.
Surf along west-facing shores of Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe and the Big Island will be 10 feet to 15 feet this afternoon and then increase to 10 feet to 20 feet and hold through Thursday night.
The swell also has prompted the weather service to issue a small-craft advisory.
Meanwhile, another hazy day is in the forecast, but trade winds are expected to return briefly tomorrow and Friday.
