A few dangerous runs by Kamehameha junior forward Caprice Dydasco was all it took to change the flow of the girls soccer game between the Warriors and 'Iolani.

With 'Iolani putting the pressure on offensively and Kamehameha yet to mount a consistent attack, Warriors coach Michele Nagamine implored Dydasco to take command.

"I actually yelled at her because I thought 'Iolani had the play for the first 15 minutes (of the game)," Nagamine said after the win. "I yelled at her from the sideline when it started to shift a little bit. She started making those runs and we started to see her and we would almost get the ball there. I said, 'It's going to come.' "

Dydasco broke a scoreless halftime tie with a goal 15 seconds after kickoff. It was the first of three goals she would score in a 3-0 win over 'Iolani on Dec. 29, 2009.

"It was kick-off, and we lost it and Courtney (Botelho) worked and we got it back," Dydasco said. "I ran behind the defense and she slotted it through. I looked up and the goalie was coming near post so I slotted it back post."

Two minutes later, Dydasco scored again on a similar run, this time on a pass from junior midfielder/forward Gabriella Yates.

"It was kind of the same thing, but I turned with it and slotted it back post again," said Dydasco, whose older brother Zane is a former Advertiser State Player of the Year (2008).

Dydasco completed what she believes is the first hat trick of her high school career in the closing minutes of the game.

"It was a counterattack and I knew I had four defenders behind me so I controlled it and I tried to get wide so I could kick it long to get past them," Dydasco said. "When they all got back I cut it back and slotted it because the keeper was coming out."

Nagamine would later call Dydasco's last goal "insanity."

Nagamine said the Warriors were "a little shell-shocked in the first half because everybody knew this was a big game. We never talked about it, we tried not to say 'Iolani all week. We just wanted it to be another game for them.

"The ILH is such a great league. It's good every year, but this year there's so much parity."

Dydasco leads Kamehameha with six goals. Last month, the All-State athlete committed to play soccer for UCLA for the 2011 season.

"She has some pretty big expectations, but all I told her was that high school is going to be preparing you for the next big thing in your life," Nagamine said. "You're going to have pressure on you all the time. She's a great, great player."
