Lone boater takes preparations at Heeia
In the predawn darkness today, one man at Heeia Small Boat Harbor was preparing to take a boat out to deeper waters to ride out the tsunami.
John Turner said he hoped that moving the 42-foot ship that belongs to Hawaii Pacific University would help keep it safe.
But that was the only activity going on at the harbor near Kaneohe.
He anticipated that more boaters would arrive upon the sounding of the sirens at 6 a.m.
