Rainbow Wahine basketball team beats Boise State in home finale

Playing her final home game of the regular season, senior Dita Liepkalne scored a game-high 17 points to lead the University of Hawaii women's basketball team to a 66-64 victory over Boise State tonight at Stan Sheriff Center.
On senior night, Liepkalne, a four-year letterwinner who has played in 109 career games, hit a career-high four 3-pointers to help the Rainbow Wahine hold off a late Bronco rally.
The Rainbow Wahine improve to 10-18 overall and 4-11 in Western Athletic Conference action. Boise State fell to 17-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play.
The win also moves UH closer to clinching a spot in the WAC Tournament. The Rainbow Wahine are two games ahead of San Jose State in the win column. The Rainbow Wahine have one game remaining, while San Jose State has two games left.
Four players scored in double figures for UH, along with Liepkalne, Julita Bungaite scored 13 points, Breanna Arbuckle added 11 points and Allie Patterson added 10 points.
Arbuckle also recorded her second career double-double, with 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
In the first half, the Rainbow Wahine went on a 7-0 run, midway through the first half to open up a 26-16 after a Kanekoa 3-pointer. UH built on its lead at the half, taking a 38-27 advantage into the break.
UH ends the regular season on the road against Utah State on March 6. The Rainbow Wahine have nine days off in between games.
