‘NATION’ to screen in high-def at Kahala 8
Advertiser Staff
A family production of the play “NATION,” filmed live at the National Theatre in London, will screen next week in high-definition at the Kahala 8 Consolidated Theatres.
The adventure story of survival and self-discovery, featuring live music, dance and extraordinary puppets, is suitable for ages 10 and older. The screening will be at 2 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday.
“NATION” is set in a parallel world in 1860. It features two teenagers, Mau and Daphne, who are thrown together by a tsunami that destroyed Mau’s village and left Daphne shipwrecked on his South Pacific island, thousands of miles from home.
As starving refugees gather, Daphne delivers a baby, milks a pig, brews beer and does battle with a mutineer. Mau fights cannibal Raiders, discovers the world is round and questions the reality of his tribe’s fiercely patriarchal gods.
Plays in the NT Live season are filmed in high definition using innovative digital technologies and broadcast via satellite to 21 countries and over 300 venues throughout the world, including over 75 cinemas across the United Kingdom. NATION follows the hugely successful broadcasts of "Phèdre" and "All’s Well That Ends Well."
