ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Outfielder Cody Ross has beaten the Florida Marlins in salary arbitration and will make $4.45 million rather than the team's offer of $4.2 million.

Arbitrators James Oldham, Margaret Brogan and Howard Edelman made the decision yesterday, a day after hearing arguments.

Ross hit .290 with 24 homers and 90 RBIs last season, when he made $2.3 million.

Players lead owners 2-1 in cases decided thus far, with Milwaukee outfielder Corey Hart winning $4.8 million. Tampa Bay outfielder B.J. Upton lost and will get $3 million.

Braves: Right-hander Jair Jurrjens, who could be Atlanta's No. 1 starter, is scheduled for an MRI today to determine the cause of soreness in his right shoulder. He was 14-10 with a 2.60 ERA last year, the third-best ERA in the NL.

Nationals: Former New York Yankees right-hander Chien-Ming Wang and Washington have reached an agreement on a $2 million, one-year contract, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.

Orioles: Baltimore right-hander Brad Bergesen will be slowed at the start of spring training after hurting his shoulder while filming a promotional spot in December, an injury that caused the team to institute a new policy regarding commercial shoots. Bergesen strained his right shoulder while performing in a commercial promoting Baltimore's 2010 season.
