Green social-marketing workshop at UH

Advertiser Staff

Doug McKenzie-Mohr, an environmental psychologist, will next month present a one-day community-based social marketing workshop at the University of Hawaii.

This workshop provides an introduction to community-based social marketing and how it is being applied throughout the world to foster sustainable behavior. McKenzie-Mohr is a professor of psychology at St. Thomas University, Fredericton, Canada.

The workshop is geared toward individuals who design or fund programs encouraging people or businesses to engage in environmentally beneficial behaviors, such as waste reduction, water and energy efficiency, food self-sufficiency, buying locally, watershed and habitat protection, pollution prevention or transportation changes. The workshop will also be useful for environmental education professionals and public health professionals who work to foster sustainable lifestyle changes, such as being more active.
The workshop is set for 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 8 in the UH Campus Center Ballroom. Registration: $15, by Feb. 26 (limited seating). The workshop will be followed by a free presentation, 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the UH Architecture Auditorium.
