The seven horses that had been part of the Honolulu Police Department’s mounted patrol will be sent to a ranch on the Big Island, Mayor Mufi Hannemann announced today.
The arrangement calls for the horses to be offered to Keawewai Ranch as a gift from Honolulu.
Ranch owner Chandi Duke has agreed to care for the animals in their retirment.
The horses are named Chief Lee, Cruiser, Scout, Kuhio, Trooper, Justice and Cinbad.
