LĪHU'E, Kaua'i — The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Forestry and Wildlife has announced an opportunity for people to participate in the control of feral goats on Kaua'i in an area known as Hunting Unit F in Waimea Canyon.

Due to safety concerns, the animal control action is being limited to archery and muzzleloader methods, a news release said.

Use of archery for the control action will be allowed from now through April 25 on weekends and state holidays.

Use of muzzleloaders for the control action will be permitted from June 1 through 27 on weekends and state holidays.

The limit will be two feral goats (either sex) per hunter per day.

The ongoing pig hunting season will continue as scheduled.

Interested individuals will need to show a valid hunting license and will be required to sign an animal control permit at the Līhu'e Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 3060 'Eiwa St., Room 306, in Līhu'e.
