McLachlin 4 back at Pebble Beach

Punahou graduate Parker McLachlin shot a 4-under-par 68 yesterday and was four strokes off the lead after the first round of the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am at Pebble Beach, Calif.
Defending champion Dustin Johnson closed with five consecutive birdies to tie the tournament record with a 30 on the back nine to shoot 64 at Spyglass Hill, traditionally the toughest course of the three used for this tournament.
McLachlin, who also played Spyglass, shot 5-under 31 on the front nine with three birdies and an eagle. He had one birdie and one double bogey on the back nine.

NATIONAL EVENT HERE
Hawai'i's Matt Westmoreland is seeded seventh and Reid Kiyabu 15th for the 2010 Boys and Girls 18 National Open, which starts tomorrow at the Patsy T. Mink CORP Tennis Complex.
Finals are scheduled for Wednesday. Matches begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow through Monday and 9 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. There is no admission charge.
There are 62 boys and 61 girls entered this year. Twenty are from Hawai'i.
Top seeds are Eric Johnson, who is ranked 24th nationally, and Sarah Lee, who is 25th.
