Anti-obesity plan wins award

The Hogan Entrepreneurial Program has named Kaho'omiki's Obesity Prevention Program as the winner of its 4th Nonprofit Business Plan Competition.

Kaho'omiki's mission is "to actively support and encourage lifelong physical activity that enhances the quality of life of Hawai'i residents," according to a news release from the program based at Chaminade University.

The organization took home a first-place prize of $12,000.

Lanakila Pacific took second place for its Printing for Good Project and won a prize of $6,000.

The third-place prize of $4,000 was awarded to Hawaiian Hope's Internet Caf .

The prizes were funded by a donation from American Savings Bank.

The Wai'anae Clubhouse Productions program by the Boys & Girls Club of Hawai'i won the "most compelling" project prize of 100 hours of free integrated communications service valued at $12,000, donated by Loomis-ISC.
