FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez says his recovery from knee surgery is on schedule, and doesn't rule out the possibility of participating in minicamp in June.
Sanchez had a procedure on his left knee Feb. 17 to repair the patella ligament. He has been running in a pool for the past few weeks, and says Thursday he hopes to be running on ground sometime around mid-May.
That would put him on track to practice in minicamp in mid-June. Sanchez said two weeks ago he would be ready "without a doubt" in time for training camp.
The quarterback, who helped lead the Jets to the AFC championship game as a rookie, says he's looking forward to working on the field with new teammates Santonio Holmes and LaDainian Tomlinson.
